Who We Are Participants Teaching Experts Staff Board of Directors Contact Us |
Staff Coyote has a remarkably lean administration, considering that over the past 21 years it has served over 9,000 junior-high participants and installed 16 major public art projects. Its key personnel are Executive Director Marybeth Satterlee, Managing Director Claudia Stelle, and Registrar Betsy Schairer. Marybeth Satterlee co-founded Coyote in 1986 so that all junior-high kids could have the opportunity to discover, problem solve, and create in fields of their highest interests. She began teaching in the Philadelphia Public Schools in 1968, where she immediately branched away from textbooks to inspire students to think and to tap into their own creativity. In Seattle, after 17 years of teaching, she gathered into the whirlwind of activity that drives and inspires Coyote’s participants, scores of community and corporate leaders, professionals, artists, youth advocates, and supporters so that thousands of kids can rise to great heights of creativity and self actualization. Claudia Stelle brings both teaching experience and business expertise to the organization. With a doctorate in musicology, her past positions include editing music for Oxford University Press in London, managing the Musical Theater Lab in New York City, teaching at the University of Maryland, and serving as a Music Specialist at the Library of Congress. Having four boys of her own gives her particular empathy for the needs and enthusiasms of the young teens that Coyote serves. |
