Frequently Asked Questions

What ages are right for Studio Coyote?

Any Studio Coyote course can have a mix of ages ranging from 10 to 14, but most participants are middle-school students. Some courses, such as welding or glassblowing, are not recommended for the younger ages due to their intensity and certain height and weight concerns, but there are many courses that are well-suited to any age. Feel free to discuss with the registrar whether a course would be a good fit for your child.

If paying the tuition all at once is a challenge for me, how can I set up a payment plan?

You can use the registration form to indicate how you’d like to break the payments down, or you can phone Coyote to set up a payment plan with the Registrar. Just remember to mark your calendar with the dates and amounts due.

How does the scholarship system work?

Coyote ensures that any youth aged 10 to 14 has the opportunity to take a course in Studio Coyote. We work with families to find the right solution. There is no documentation required; it is up to the family to decide what is the most they can contribute.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

Indicate on your registration form that you would like to discuss a scholarship, and the Registrar will call you to discuss possible payment plans. The first line of attack is to break the total tuition/lab fee into 3 payments of an amount that fits the family’s budget. The balance could then be accommodated with an auction trade or with a withdrawal from Coyote’s scholarship fund.

How does the barter system work?

Any family can supplement its cash payments by offering a service or providing an item that Coyote can offer for sale at its annual fundraising auction. A handmade quilt or other handicraft, an Ethiopian dinner, carpentry services, yard work, 6 dozen cookies – all of these and many more have been successful trades for our auction.

Does the registration fee go towards tuition?

Yes. The registration fee holds your spot in a course and applies to tuition.
